Ferrari 458 Italia "Project Black Mist" by SR Auto Group 2016

In August 2012, Canadian tuner SR Auto Group unveiled their latest program for the Ferrari 458 Italia, dubbed "Project Ice Blade". Apparently, we used that word "latest" a little too prematurely because SR Auto Group has a new program for the Italian supercar.
Calling this one "Project Black Mist," SR Auto Group once again used aerodynamic parts from Italian tuner Novitec Rosso. With the help of the Novitec kit - it includes a front lip, a rear diffuser, and a rear aero spoiler - SR Auto Group managed to enhance the lines and curves of the Italian bad boy. From there, the paint was matched to the original exterior, which, as SR describes was the reason why the program was christened ’Black Mist.’
Rounding out the upgrades, as per usual, are a new set of wheels that SR picked themselves. In this case, the chased wheels are 21" (on the front) and 22" (on the rear) modern gloss black PUR NE1 Monoblock wheels.
Suffice to say, it’s another program that SR Auto Group can tuck under their belts. At this point, we’re just happy that they’ve been hitting these projects out of the park.

Next Ford Focus RS will deliver 350 Horsepower

Rumors about a new generation Ford Focus RS have been circulating for quite some time now, but today, British magazine AutoExpress is offering new details on the company’s new sports hatchback. The next Focus RS will be powered by a newly developed 2.3-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine - also rumored to be used in the 2015 Mustang. This new engine will deliver a total of 350 horsepower - a 50-horsepower increase over the current model.
The engine will send its power to the front wheels, but will use an active limited-slip differential - E-diff - that will optimize traction in all driving situations. The model will be offered with a standard manual gearbox, but Ford is taking the development of a new dual-clutch automatic, using PowerShift technology under consideration. However, this kind of transmission is heavier and Ford needs to find a solution to adapt it to the RS model.
The new Focus RS is set to be released in early 2014 and will be priced at about £25,000 ($39,965 at the current exchange rates).

Vauxhall Insignia VXR SuperSport 2016

Most of you are familiar with the awesome Opel Insignia OPC, or the Vauxhall Insignia VXR if you are from the British market. With an impressive output of 325 horsepower, this model can hit a top speed of 155 mph. Today, however, the company has improved this model even further with the addition of a new VXR SuperSport edition that can hit an astounding top speed of 170 mph.
The new VXR SuperSport is powered by a turbocharged 2.8-liter V-6 Ecotec engine. This engine features a micro-alloy forged steel crank, classic 60-degree cylinder angle and a die-cast alloy sump. It delivers a total of 325 horsepower, which launches the car to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds.
In order to deliver the best possible handling at high speeds, the new SuperSport has been equipped with a HiPer Strut front suspension, which maintains negative camber and improves grip levels in wet and dry. Also included on the SuperSport is the FlexRide adaptive damping system.
Vauxhall has also placed blue "Brembo" lettering on the front brake calipers plus additional increments on the speedometer in order to help customers identify the model.

Audi S5 by Senner Tuning 2016

This isn’t the first time Senner Tuning has turned their attention to modifying the Audi S5, but their newest package is probably the most impressive one to date. This package was developed for thefacelift Audi S5 and has been designed to provide it with the flagship RS5 model’s look.
Painted in a very cool ibis-white, the S5 by Senner has received a new front spoiler that maintains the original RS5 air intakes, an original black RS5 radiator grille, an RS5-style rear spoiler, a rear window spoiler, a restrained boot lid spoiler, and an RS5 exhaust pipe end covers. The package also includes numerous elements made of carbon fiber like the side skirts and the exterior mirrors. Senner has also installed a new set of Work VS-XX light-alloy wheels, sized 9x20 inch up front and 10.5x20 inch at the rear.
Under the hood, the tuner has updated the standard 3.0 liter V6 engine to deliver an impressive 429 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque (up from the standard 329 HP and 324 lb-ft). In order to deliver the extra power, the tuner installed a mechanically-driven supercharger, a performance racing air filter, a two-part motor cover, and a power converter.
For the interior, the tuner added colorful bicolor fine Nappa leather trim in black and magma-red with contrasting color stitching and an Audi R8 sports steering wheel, flattened at the bottom, with shift paddles and a race ring, as well as RS5 door handles.

Lotus Nemesis sets new UK electric land-speed record 2016

While the folks in France are checking out the new rides at the Paris Auto Show, in the UK, people are keeping themselves busy breaking records. A battery-powered Lotus Elise developed by utility company, Ecotricity, has reached an average speed of 151 mph near York today. Behind the wheel was 21-year-old Nick Ponting, who managed to smash the previous record of 137 mph set by a Bluebird Electric in 2000.
The Nemesis completed two runs along Elvington Airfield over a one mile distance, with Nick Ponting breaking the record on the first set of consecutive runs with an average speed of 148 mph. The electric supercar achieved this record with the use of two electric motors that develop a total of 330 HP. This setup also sprints it from 0 to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds.

Dale Vince OBE, founder of Ecotricity said: "This is brilliant. We built the Nemesis to smash the stereotype of electric cars as something Noddy would drive – slow, boring, not cool – and I think we’ve done exactly that today. Hopefully this will further stimulate debate about the future of transport in Britain and how we’ll be getting around when the world runs out of oil. What we’ve been able to demonstrate is that wind-powered cars are not just feasible, but can be a load of fun."

Hennessey Venom 1000/700R 2016

Hennessey is truly in a class all their own. After delivering the sheer awesomeness that is the Venombased on the Lotus Elise, the company is gracing us with their keen sense of style and power by preparing another package, this time for the new 2013 SRT Viper.

The Viper-based package delivers the same kind of power upgrades as the ones found on the previous package, meaning there are two different power output to choose from. The Venom 700R increases the Viper’s output to an impressive 725 HP, while the Venom 1000 Twin Turbo delivers a mouthwatering 1,120 HP - that’s almost double the standard 640 HP offered by the 2013 Viper.
Like with the previous Venom packages, the new 700R and 1000 Twin Turbo kits provide more of a power update than anything else. The exterior updates are limited to a carbon fiber aerodynamic kit, including new spoilers, new splitters, and a very cool rear wing for the 1000 Twin Turbo version.

Volkswagen Confirms in Paris that the Bluesport will not Happen, Yet

Well, we guess not only good things can come out of car shows, as we often find out our fair share of bad news. The latest out of Volkswagen is a killer though. A model that we have been speculating on and that has been turned on and off more than a public restroom hand dryer is finally confirmed as D.O.A., for now. Sadly enough, this highly anticipated model is the Bluesport roadster.
The last we heard of the Bluesport was when Ulrich Hackenberg, VW’s head of R&D, told EVO that theBluesport project was alive and well, despite rumors of its demise. He even went as far as to place a roughly £30,000 price tag on it.
After an interview with Autocar at the Paris Motor Show, Hackenberg said that there is “no business case” and “we didn’t find a market for it” in reference to the Bluesport, tossing a bucket of ice on all of our hopes in the process. In the same breath, however, Hackenberg also made it clear that this isn’t the end of the Bluesport, but rather just a suspension until the market shakes loose.
The reasoning Hackenberg gives for suspending it is to avoid the death blow, which is an outright rejection of the project by upper management. He made it clear that if a market open up for the Bluesport in VW’s lineup it will be quick and easy to install it and get things rolling.

So for now we just have to accept the fact that Vee-Dub will continue on without its sporty roadster for the foreseeable future. As always, we’ll keep a close eye on this one, as Volkswagen is a tricky lot sometimes and could pull a complete 180.

Jaguar already received 2000 pre-orders for the F-Type

The new Jaguar F-Type generated a ton of buzz even before it was officially unveiled in September at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. It is scheduled to go on sale in 2013, but even though its release is still months away, Jaguar has already received a total of 2,000 orders for the F-Type — about a third of the 6,000 to 7,000 units Jaguar plans to develop next year.
According to Jaguar, this will not propel the company back to its impressive 140,000 units it sold in 2007, but it will certainly help it to achieve its future sales target of 10,000 F-Types sold annually by 2014.
In the U.S. market, prices for the F-Type Roadster will range from $69,000 for the base model to upwards of $92,000 for the V8 S version. The F-Type Roadster will have a choice of two engines: a 3.0-liter supercharged V-6, which delivers 340 to 380 horsepower, or a 5.0-liter V-8 engine with 495 horsepower.

Ferrari 599XX Die Cast models by BBR

It’s time to take a little break from all the Paris Auto Show related news and talk about something a little more fun: toys! Whether you’re a child or not, we’re pretty sure many of you can appreciate the art behind die-cast models. These small versions of high-end supercars are an adult child’s dream, but this one in particular, a very cool Ferrari 599XX collection developed by BBR, is simply drool-worthy.

These 1:18 scale models are painted in the same Evo Rosso and Rosso Corsa colors used for the real car. Unfortunately, they will be built in a limited run - 50 units painted in Evo Rossa and 25 units painted in Rosso Corsa - combined with a very cool F1 2007 Italian Flag.
The bad news is that these amazing toys are not cheap. Each unit is priced at $475, cheaper that the real car, but still a ton money for a toy.

Ferrari FF Debuts a Glass-Roof in Paris

One of the most important Ferrari debuts at the 2012 Paris Auto Show was the chassis for the upcoming F70 supercar, but while it undoubtedly caught all of the attention in Paris, Ferrari’s stand included a few other very cool vehicles. Visitors have seen cars ranging from the new F12berlinetta to a very special FF that certainly has a feature worth mentioning.
This particular FF was equipped with a new full-length panoramic roof that allows for more light to enter the car. According to Ferrari, this new roof features "a special reflective glass (LowE) that gives occupants a genuine open-air driving feeling, while providing thermal and acoustic insulation."
No other details on this new glass roof were provided, leaving us to wonder if this will be a new feature for the sports car or just an attention grabber in Paris. Production for this feature would be a little controversial considering the added weight a panoramic glass roof would add to the FF, and the effect that weight would have on the performance numbers of the vehicle. The design for the FF is already questionable in many people’s minds; why add another negative by messing with the performance the customer can get from the 660 HP V12 engine?

Porsche 911/991 Attack by Anibal Automotive Design 2016

It’s been a while since we last heard from Anibal Automotive Design, but every time they revisit their series of Attack models and the aero kits fitted into them, we can’t help but wonder why this Montreal-based tuner doesn’t do more programs like this.
In any case, we’ll take whatever they dish out any way we can get it. So when they released their new Attack program for the Porsche 911, we stood up and took notice. The aerodynamic kit includes components built straight out of carbon fiber. There’s also a striking contrast on the sports car’s body, particularly the utilization of a silver finish on the body to go with a black carbon fiber hood.
As an added touch to the striking and downright stunning aero kit, Anibal Automotive Design added a new set of multi-spoke wheels to the 911.
According to Hani Harfouche, CEO and designer at Anibal Automotive Design, the Porsche 911 Attack is already scheduled for production. No concrete date has been announced for when the cars will go on sale, but we’ll keep a close eye on when these amazing Porsche 911s are ready to be taken home.

Dodge Charger R/T Blacktop 2016

Back in 2011, Dodge unveiled a new package option for the Charger: the Blacktop Edition. This package included some pretty stout and downright sexy additions to the body, but it was only offered on V-6 model Chargers, leaving those wanting this look with the power to back it up out in the cold. With Dodge already expanding the Blacktop Edition package to the Challenger R/T and Avenger for the 2013 model year, it decided to also expand the package to the more powerful Charger R/T model.
While the Blacktop Edition package may look fully custom, under the hood the Charger R/T remains unchanged. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as the Charger R/T remains one of the fastest American-built sedans on the market and this new package just gives it a more sinister look to go along with its stout performance.
The real test is to see if this package is really worth the premium that Dodge is attaching to it, or is this just another special edition model that has an inflated price tag with no valuable additions?

Next Audi TT will bring back design elements from the original TT

Just like every other model in Audi’s line-up, the TT is also preparing to enter a new generation with big changes already in the works. These new changes will take their inspiration from the first Audi TT that was launched in 1998. This model had a greater impact on the market than its successor, the second generation, in 2006, so when the third generation is revealed, it will be sporting more cues from the first generation. Audi hopes these original design elements will recreate the car’s "strongly functional shape largely untroubled by ornamentation."

The next TT will be built on Volkswagen’s new MQB platform and will use plenty of aluminum in its construction to further reduce mass. Audi will offer both front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options, while providing custonmers with a choice of three engines: 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter petrol engines, and a 2.0 liter TDI engine. The TT RS version will get a reworked version of the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine.
The new Audi TT will debut in 2014 as a coupe version with the roadster arriving one year later.

SEMA was BRZ and FR-S Heaven, as 50 Different Images Emerge

Okay, we all pretty much figured that the BRZ and FR-S would likely have a strong presence in SEMA this year, as it was only one of the most talked about cars all year. To boot, with Toyota and Subarudragging their collective feet about releasing higher-performance models, aftermarket companies have been working double-time to develop  parts to hop up its 200-horsepower 4-banger engine.

Our colleagues over at Rides magazine managed to compile a gallery chock-full of just about every BRZ and FR-S at SEMA. We’re not too sure if this is a complete list of the examples at SEMA, but the total count in the gallery is 50 different examples – all but one or two are of the FR-S. We’re not too sure exactly how many cars showed up for SEMA this year, but we can say with some confidence that the FR-S takes the trophy for most heavily represented at the show.

Check out our gallery to see all of the examples that Rides provided us.

Spy Shots: Aston Martin Rapide strips down to almost nothing

Initially, we thought that Aston Martin was working on a Rapide S version of its luxury sedan, but now it looks like this is actually just a facelift version of the Rapide. These photos show the Rapide in all its glory, with only one strip of tape where the front number plate is fitted serving as the cammo.
When compared to the current Rapide, the one showed in these pictures features a different front bumper, a much bigger grille, and a different air intake at the lower part. At the back, the most significant change is the bigger rear spoiler.

Under the hood, it seems that Aston Martin is retaining its usual 6.0 liter V12 engine, but will more than likely provide a modest power increase from the current 470 HP.
Expect to see the new Aston Martin Rapide launched at the end of 2012 or in early 2013.

Lotus Nemesis by Ecotricity 2016

The Lotus Nemesis was able to shatter the U.K. land speed record for an electric vehicle in September 2012, but many people didn’t even know this vehicle existed. Did Lotus create an electric model while no one was looking?
No, the Nemesis isn’t an all-new electric vehicle built by Lotus in an attempt to rebuild its damaged image. The Nemesis is actually a one-off Lotus Elise converted to electric power by Ecotricity – a Great Britain-based renewable energy company.
Typically, when you think of the electric vehicle, you imagine the likes of the Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i-MiEV; you think, a slow and ugly buggy that looks as if the manufacturer built it out of spite rather than to actually sell. Well, first we had Tesla eliminating the ugly and slow stereotypes rather effectively and now you have this Nemesis ripping that stereo type to shreds and stomping it into the ground.

Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG ‘Titan Solution’ by TC Concepts

German tuner TC Concepts is back with another program. Yeah, as if their work on the Ferrari 458 Italialast month wasn’t enough, here they are presenting one, called "Titan Solution," for one of Germany’s finest: the pre-facelifted Mercedes SL65 AMG.
Already packing a walloping 6.0-liter V12 biturbo V12 engine, TC Concepts managed to increase the output of the German roadster thanks to using an upgraded engine electronic system with metal catalysts and modified air filters. The result is an output increase from 612 horsepower to 670 horsepower.
Pretty impressive, right?
From there the SL65 AMG was treated to a re-hooded fender, new left front bumper side skirts, AMG LED tail lights and new xenon headlights, and a new rear spoiler and diffuser. The last two, in particular, received a clear coat carbon fiber finish. Finally, the German tuner fitted the SL65 AMG with a new set of 19" and 20" AMG Black Series wheels.

Ermini Seiottosei 686 Roadster 2016

Most of us probably have no idea who or what Ermini is, but for those who do remember, it’s an Italian automaker that made a name for itself back in the 60’s. Over the past 50 years, the Italian car brand has been draped in covers, having produced a grand total of zero vehicles.
All that, though, is about to change because Ermini is looking at making a comeback with the new 686 sports car and Ermini has just released a handful of details on this long-in-the-making roadster. Unfortunately, there are still some specifications that Ermini has yet to reveal, but we have enough to bring you a review on the 686 Seiottosei.
We can gather that the Florentine-based automaker is preparing it to be a rear-engined, all-wheel drive sports car that will carry a tubular space frame and a tuned-up suspension.
As for the design of the car, that will be made as a collaborative effort between Giulio Cappellini and Design Team Ermini, and will feature things like extensive use of carbon fiber and the use of racing brakes, shock absorbers, and a transmission unit.
Looking at the renderings of the car, it certainly looks like a stunning sports car. The overall profile is aggressive enough to be a real looker. The huge rear spoiler is a definite turn-on. Finally, you can’t go wrong with a two-seater convertible, right?
To learn more about the 686 Seiottosei and see how it stacks up to the competition in its very small class, click past the jump.

Seat Ibiza Cupra 2016

Seat used the Cupra name for the first time back in 1996 as a special, top-of-the-line Ibiza built to commemorate Seat’s World Rally Championship victory in the 2.0-litre category. Since then the model became a hit and now is being used for both the Ibiza and Leon ranges.
The new ibiza Cupra is powered by a a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine that delivers a total of 180 HP and 184 lbs-ft of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.9 seconds and can hit a top speed of 142 mph.

Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series Halloween Edition 2016

Spooky ghouls and creepy crawlies, Halloween is a holiday that a lot of people hold near and dear to their hearts because its one of the few days in the year where you can act a fool...and be celebrated for it.

For Mercedes, Halloween’s also a special occasion because it gives them the opportunity to show this one-off C63 AMG Coupe Black Series, called the Halloween Edition.

This car is a one-off model that Mercedes showed today on their Facebook page. The car is equal parts pumpkin with the Orange paint finish and monster with its 517 horsepower capabilities. It’s an ideal recipe for a day like Halloween.

Other details on the outside include contrasting black chrome touches on the front grille - including the Silver Arrows logo - and the wing mirror housings. The vehicle also four hot wheels with the center painted black to fit into the C63 AMG’s "Halloween" look.
Inside, orange is once again prominently featured, including on the sides of the seats, parts of the steering wheel, the dashboard, trim level marks, and the center armrest.
Oh, and did we mention that this C63 AMG Black Series packs a wallop? It’s 6.3-liter V8 engine produces 517 horsepower and 457 lb/ft of torque with a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed 155 mph.

Hyundai Service Engineering Trackday Veloster 2016

Oddly named as it is, the Hyundai Service Engineering Trackday Veloster looks pretty darn awesome. The product of the company’s own Hyundai Product Quality Engineering, this Veloster Turbo concept proves that these fellas know a lot more than just "ensuring vehicle quality and customer satisfaction prior to vehicle launch and tracking the results after."
What they wanted to do with this SEMA concept was to build an honest track vehicle that could be driven to and from the track. The first thing they worked on was to make sure that the car looked the part of a track-ready racer. That involved dressing up the car in a custom Sprint Gray and Orange Rally-inspired paint scheme. From there, they customized the front fascia to include a fabricated mesh grille and four rally-inspired fog lights. Meanwhile, the rear fascia was also taken care of to include backup lights that have been integrated into the exhaust finishers. Rounding out the exterior upgrades is a carbon-wrapped sunroof and the new set of 18" custom painted Work Emotion 11R Wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires with Blox Racing Street Series forged aluminum lug nuts.
Inside, the Veloster’s interior was fully customized by Katzkin to include an integrated rear strut brace and tire rack, a carbon fiber sunshade, interior LED lighting under the dash and over the rear cargo area, and color-matched floor jack, jack stands, and tire iron. Meanwhile, audio and electronics were taken cared of courtesy of a custom-mounted Nexis 7 tablet and Palmer Performance dash command gauges.
,mpip" style="background-color: white; color: #404040; font-family: Arial, Verdana; font-size: 13px; line-height: 16px; margin-bottom: 11px;"> As far as performance goes, this Veloster Turbo Concept received plenty of upgrades, highlighted by an AEM water/methanol injection kit, a custom cold air intake, and a Perma-Cool auxiliary oil cooler. Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs, a custom steering calibration, and Sachs tuned struts and shocks were also added for stability purposes. Finally, Hawk HPS racing pads, Goodridge stainless brake lines, front camber bolts and rear CTBA spacers, an H-Fit.com custom short shift Adapter and hard mounts, and a custom cold air intake with a K&N air filter round out the pretty extensive modifications done on the Veloster Turbo’s performance credentials.

BMW M3 Coupe Snow White by Mode Carbon 2016

So what do cars and Snow White have in common? Absolutely nothing, right? Well, not according to Miami based tuner Mode Carbon who unveiled a pretty cool Snow White package for the BMW m3Coupe. Mode Carbon’s Show White has been upgraded on both the exterior and the interior, but that’s not all. Carbon Mode also slapped a few upgrades under the hood.
For the exterior, the tuner added a carbon fiber GTS front spoiler, a carbon fiber rear diffuser, and a set of gloss black Competition wheels. As a final touch, the tuner also added a Vorsteiner bootlid - a reminder of the original CSL. The Bimmer’s interior has been modified with some help from Sonic MS, which provided a Performance Steering wheel with Verstrabe aluminum extended DCT shifter paddles, to bring the car back to its pure racing roots.
Under the hood, the stock 414-horsepower, V-8 engine has received a Dinan ECU tune in order to increase the output level a little bit — as if 414 ponies isn’t enough already. Unfortunately, Carbon Mode has yet to reveal just how many horses the ECU tune unleashed. There is also a new set of KW sleeves, wider competition wheels, and Michelin SS tires.

Porsche 911 by Caractere Exclusive 2016

European auto tuners aren’t usually present in mass in a show like SEMA, but Belgian tuner Caractere Exclusive is not only making the exception, they actually went to Las Vegas to present their latest aerodynamic kit for the new Porsche 911.
Built from PU rim, Caractere Exclusive’s body kit features a number of new components, highlighted by a new front bumper with integrated air intakes and air outlets. The kit also includes a new set of side skirts with their own integrated cool air intakes and air outlets, a new rear spoiler, and a rear wing that comes with an integrated third brake light and air intake.
A new sport exhaust system with valve control and dual round tailpipes was also installed to thePorsche, improving its sound and unleashing its full-throttle fury for all to hear. From there, Caractere Exclusive fitted it with a set of either 20- or 21-inch three-piece forged wheels. These wheels not only enhance the car’s look, but they also improve its overall handling and driving characteristics by putting more rubber to the road.

Maserati GranTurismo Project Deathbolt II by SR Auto Group 2016

Hyundai Veloster Turbo "Music 2.0" by Re:Mix Lab2016

Some people just love loud stereos in their car. It doesn’t matter if they’ve already got a doozy of an audio system installed, they still prefer something that could be described as vertigo inducing.
Korean automaker and party group Re:Mix Lab have the answer for those people’s needs. Even better, it’s coming to the 2015 SEMA Auto Show.
In what has become somewhat of a yearly collaboration, the two companies have built a sick program for the Hyundai Veloster Turbo that comes packed with an audio system that could make your ears bleed.
Called the Veloster "Music 2.0," aptly named as the successor of the 2014 Veloster program, this customized Hyundai sports hatch is arguably more audacious than what we saw in 2011. The flashy chrome finish is eye-catching in its own right, but once you add the new LED headlight set-up, the new set of wheels, and the lowered suspension into the mix, well, it’s a recipe that only Hyundai and Re:Mix Lab can cook up.
The true star of this program, albeit one that only a specific group of people will undoubtedly enjoy, is the motorized DJ station at the back and the addition of about as many speakers as your ears could possibly handle.
Re:Mix Lab says that the audio set-up on the Veloster Music 2.0 can be heard for blocks.
After seeing what they did, we’re not ones to disagree.

Audi drops Quattro Sports Cars in favor of a Coupe SUV 2016

According to Audi, there is no market for such a model. We find it hard to believe that a limited edition sports coupe, with an rs5 engine and a design inspired by the Quattro Concept wouldn’t steal the hearts of many customers, but they didn’t ask our opinion. Audi announced that today’s market is ripe for crossovers and SUVs, and this is what they plan to offer

Porsche Shooting for Sub-7-Minute time Around the Nürburgring for the 918 Spyder2016

At the Paris Motor Show, Motor Trend had a very telling sit down with Porsche CEO, Matthias Müller, about several of the upcoming models. This interview not only uncovered the fact that the entire lineup will be undergoing a facial and rump redesign, but also that a new, ultra-powerful hybrid drivetrain will grace the Cayenne in 2015. Almost missed amongst this plethora of new Porsche goodies was a statement by Müller that Porsche is hoping for a sub-7-second time around the `Ring,
If you recall correctly, the 918 Spyder recently screamed through the Nürburgring at an unreal 7:14. When asked about what this awesome time means to the 918, Müller said “That means this car will be a huge – huge – milestone for Porsche. One year ago we had a target of 7:20-7:22 or something. Last week one of our engineers drove one lap in 7:14. The record is 7:11. So I suppose at the end of the year, we will have a new record at the Nürburgring.” The record in question is not the overall record, but rather the major automaker record, now held by the 2010 Viper ACR.
Doing the rough math, the record-holding Radical SR8 lapped the ring with a 0.632 horsepower/kg rating and Porsche estimates that the 795-horsepower 918 with the “Weissach package” weighs just 1,665 kg. That puts the 918 at a 0.447 horsepower/kg rating. This means, in theory, Porsche needs to do one of two things to even come close to the SR8’s heels. The two options are either drop the 918’s weight by an additional 407 kg, which is nearly impossible, or increase its output to about 1,050 horsepower. The latter certainly sounds like the more obvious and possible route. We, of course, cannot take into account vehicle handling and driver skill, as those two variables can sway significantly based on track conditions and other uncontrollable variables.
We’ll keep an eye out to see if Porsche can really pull this off.

Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG ‘Titan Solution’ by TC Concepts 2016

Mercedes-Benz SL 55 AMG Liquid Gold by fostla.de 2016

When a tuner decides to put together a package for the Mercedes SL-Class - and many of them have - they have to ensure that the work done on the sports car is heads and shoulders above everyone else. They can achieve this through an extravagant exterior paint finish, a revamped interior, or a massive engine upgrade, among other things. German tuner, fostla.de, is taking the route of covering the SL 55 AMG with a bright and eye-catching paint finish and some extra ponies to boot.

For starters, the SL 55 AMG was put through the exterior ringer with a metallic matte yellow PWF foil that makes the sports car shine. The yellow base is complimented by new wheels that were first powder coated in gloss black and then foiled in the yellow body color. These wheels measure 10.5x20 inch at the front axle and 12.5x20 inch at the rear axle, and have been fitted with appropriate tires (265/30-20 and 325/25-20). There is also a lowering kit which brings the car closer to the ground and offers a sportier overall look to the vehicle.

Getting under that metallic matte yellow hood, there is the Mercedes’ V8 engine that has received software optimization to achieve a power boost of 548 HP from the standard 500 HP. Facilitating this boost is the new exhaust system with black glossy powder coated exhaust tips.
This flashy foil and boosted output comes in at a price of 30,000 euro, or about $39,000 at the current exchange rates.

Bentley Continental GT3 ’Stradale’ 2016

At the 2012 Paris Auto Show, Bentley unveiled the Continental GT3 Concept to mark their return to racing, but their return is not the only bit of good news coming from the luxury automaker. According to British magazine, AutoCar, Bentley plans to build a road-going version of the GT3 to replace the currentSupersports models.
The new Continental GT3 Stradale will be powered by the company’s new twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that will deliver a total 700 HP, making it a strong competitor for the new Ferrari F12berlinetta, at least on paper. The rear-wheel-drive configuration of the concept will not be utilized as Bentley will stick to the usual four-wheel drive system featured on all current Continental models for the future Stradale.
Unsurprisingly, the concept’s radical look will be toned down for road use, while the interior will boast the same amount of luxury as Bentley’s customers have come to expect, albeit with a few modifications to keep the weight down.
The new Bentley Continental GT3 Stradale will be limited to only 300 units and will be unveiled sometime in 2014-2015.

Maserati GranCabrio Sovrano by DMC 2016

On the sides, the GranCabrio received some subtle side skirts with zig-zag end-panels, while the rear benefits from a new trunk spoiler, a new rear diffuser, and a number of carbon fiber add-on parts. For the interior, DMC combines leather with a checkered stitch with plenty of carbon fiber and a new set of aluminum pedals.

Ferrari 458 Italia by GMG Racing 2016

GMG Racing is a California-based aftermarket tuning company that caters to some of Europe’s finest exotics. They’re also a multi-series racing team, which only adds to their already impressive credentials.
Packed with a steady combination of resources and industry know-how, GMG Racing took a Ferrari 458 Italia and gave it nice new body paint and some subtle performance enhancements.
Talking about the paint, GMG Racing coated the 458 Italia with a grey shade dubbed "Grigio Scuro." It’s not the kind of grey we’re used to, but the added shine makes it look stone cold awesome. From there, GMG Racing gave the Italian supercar a new aftermarket exhaust, a lowered suspension kit, sports springs from Novitec, and a new set of wheels from TBD.
No mention was made on how much horsepower was added to the supercar. Whatever that number is, we’re pretty confident that the number is north of 600 horsepower.
Sounds like a winner in our book.

VDS GT 001 2016

Seemingly, everyone is getting into the world of limited supercar building lately. The latest supercar to hit the market hails from Belgium and is the brainchild of former racecar driver, Raphael van der Straten, and it is a wild one to say the least.

The all-new VDS GT 001 sits atop the basic platform of the Gillet Vertigo supercar, which gives it some rather impressive numbers and an oddly stout appearance. To boot, the production of this Belgium supercar is extremely limited, so you are likely in for a ride that will be worth some significant money in the near future.

So how well does this oddly proportioned supercar hold up in the ever-growing supercar realm and will its strange appearance be accepted in the real world?

Mercedes recalls 2016 SL-Class 2016

Mercedes USA has announced a voluntary recall for 432 units of the 2013 SL-Class roadsters due to an air-conditioner refrigerant line that can tear in a severe frontal crash. The vehicles affected were built from from December 19th, 2011 through May 31st, 2012 and are use the R1234yf refrigerant.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, if the refrigerant escapes from the hose, the gas mixture could be released into the engine compartment and cause a fire.
"Daimler AG, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, conducted product testing of a vehicle not sold in the U.S., but equipped with the same refrigerant. According to Mercedes-Benz, the testing was designed to replicate worst-case conditions expected in a severe frontal crash that would cause a rupture of the air-conditioner refrigerant line. A rupture of a refrigerant line will result in a gaseous mixture of refrigerant being released into the engine compartment. The testing determined that the escaping R1234yf refrigerant may ignite under specific conditions. The resulting fire could spread to additional combustible materials."

Mercedes announced that if someone is driving an affected model, they should address their local dealer who will replace the R1234yf refrigerant with a new, R134a refrigerant.
